Wow what a day this was for us. God blessed us with an amazing opportunity for a show today. We began our day by leaving our "teepees" and heading for the Brigade Headquarters at the Gaza Strip. Yep...that's right. We had the amazing opportunity to perform for the soldiers who are fighting on the front lines in Gaza. I will share with you a little bit about our experience but the details you will have to get from one of the Internationals once we get home.
Anyway, this is a new base that was built after the disengagement in 2005 when Israel pulled out of Gaza and gave it over to the Palestinian Authority or now Hamas who really runs the show there. We were scheduled to begin at 11 am but had to delay the show a bit as some of the soldiers who were coming to the show had an "incident" on the border that they were taking care of. Several times throughout the show some of the soldiers had to come and go as events happened on the border which required their attention.
Overall the show was fantastic and the soldiers were so excited to have us there. They were so enthusiastic and really gave us such great energy from their response. Interestingly enough, the place we performed at the Brigade Headquarters is a beautiful auditorium that had never been used for a musical show prior. We were the inaugural group to perform there which was a great treat.
After the show we began our 5 hour trek down to Eilat on the Red Sea. It was a long bus ride but there were two great things that happened on the way...naps and mail bag! Thanks so much to all of you for the cards, letters and money that we received. After 11 days away from home it was good to hear from all of you through your notes and cards. We arrived in Eilat and ate pizza together then had a free evening to do some shopping. It is a fun place to visit but it is VERY hot here.
That is about it for Monday. Tomorrow we have a free day which we will tell you about later and then a performance Tuesday evening at the navy base here in Haifa. Thanks for all your prayers. Jenny and Jennifer are both feeling better. We appreciate you praying for them. We have 3 more shows. Please pray for continued strength and for God to move in all three of them.
